Interior upholstery guide or manual

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if Malibu or an interior upholstery company or individual has come up with a blue print or a manual on how the interior is build and how to take it apart? I have a 2001 Malibu response and I need to do some interior work as over the years I have some stains and a couple small cuts and basically the interior is getting tired. I want to redo some of it and a lot of it is straight forward on how it comes apart, but the engine cover and the side panels and the rear seat back are a little more troublesome and I don't want to wreck the substrate while trying to remove them.

Thanks for any help.

Panels are either screwed or bolted in.  Anything touching the floor is screwed, mostly everything else is bolted.  Just feel behind until you find the nut...I'm sure a few will be hand tight at best.  Screws get hidden very easily in the carpet, so it make take a bit to find them; a magnet may help for those.

There is no blueprint and these boats are hand built.  Just feel around, they aren't that complicated.

The engine cover is just stapled on.  But try and find the connectors for the coaming pads!  I need to replace my side netting and what a PITA!
