Response Lx - remove gunnel upholstery panel

Recommended Posts

I bought new side nets from Bakes for my 2001 Response Lx. The install is not as easy as I thought it would be.

I see bolts at the top of the side panel but the lower part is the problem. I cannot tell what is holding the side panel right under the rear speakers. It looked like it might have screws installed before the carpet was in place but that doesn’t make sense because how did they staple the carpet on? I am talking about the carpet below the speaker not the carpet on the floor.

Who has done this before?

I dunno - but I am following this because I have to do the same thing to my boat.  Hopefully with grey netting like OEM.  And from what little I've poked around, I have no idea how the nets are held in place other than to say on  my 99 it looks like I have remove the coaming panels completely.

There are a couple screws in the lower carpeted area below the speaker cutouts.

Factory drove them right through the carpet of the panel, so the heads are basically invisible. Poke the area and with a bit of patience you eventually will locate them. Been there done that... it’s annoying I know.
