Blower & Stereo Noise

DonT

Recommended Posts

Lot's of references to eliminating noise in your stereo, but can't find anything specific, other than "check your grounds".

Here's the situation:

Engine Off:

Stereo is on, turn on the blower, loud "snap" through the speakers.

No noise after this point without the engine running

Engine On:

Stereo is on, turn on the blower, same loud "snap" through the speakers

continued static/interference in the sound

Here's a high level overview of the wiring:

Head Unit:  Power and ground are as wired from the factory, utilizing the dashboard stereo on switch

Amps:  Power -  through the perko switch; Ground - ground to starting battery, then to the "house" battery

Any thoughts on how to correct?

First thing to do is take the head unit ground from the ground bar under the dash and run it to the same point the amps are grounded.

This above but if that doesn't fix it, which to me it sounds like your RCA cables could be sitting near some power wires in the helm.  where is your head unit mounted?  Do you have anything at the helm like your head unit, Bluetooth module, EQ (Zone driver), etc..??
