Considering adding GSA to my 2006 VLX

I’m looking at adding a surf system to my 2006 VLX diamond hull.

I am am wondering if anyone else has done this and if it is worth the $$?

I’m in Canada, so the already high price is going to be really high after exchange and shipping.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

I've never surfed behind a GSA,  but some friends with the same oat added a Mission wakeshaper and it made the world of a difference for a couple hundred loonies.  Exchange rate/shipping/duties  etc. will add up REAL FAST (tm)

Thanks. I guess I should be a little more clear. We have been using a home made suck gate for a couple of seasons now with great success, but  are looking to Upgrade to an automated system.

Im not afraid of building my own, but the fit and finish of the Go Surf Assist is appealing to me.

I had GSA installed on my 2011 vride21, wake hull version of 05 to 08 vlx, this year and love it vs. a suckgate.  Superior in every way except price.  Less weight required in the bow due to some lift from tab but requires a bit more weight in the rear.  Less bow rise.  Ability to tune wave on the fly similar to power wedge.  Launch mode is an awesome feature. Transfer ability. Wave has more push at back of wave which makes for a very long pocket.  It has exceeded my expectations.  Worth the price tag for us!

Here is the thread about my install that covers installation specs, features of system and dialing our wave.  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I would agree with Bovhica, works great and the more weight I throw at it the better the wave gets... I actually used the dial to get the port side wave much better this past week after some complaints on how it was inferior to the starboard side. Also used the launch mode to pull wakeboards with my surf ballast, without it I could not get on plane...

Since exchange rates up the price for you a good bit, you should look into: Infinity Wave Surf Tab system. Its half the price of GSA, the difference is that its not a fully automated system like GSA, like just pushing "surf left" or "surf right"....this system has 2 switches that you adjust the tabs with instead. Personally I think there are some benefits to this since the tabs are infinitely adjustable, I can now load 5k of ballast on my boat and using my center tab as well as the 2 new surf tabs can jump up on plane if I want too, similar to the auto launch on newer surf tabs. (rpm's came down a couple hundred on my boat too compared to using Nauticurl suck gate)

I installed the InfinityWave surf tabs on my boat this Spring and they work awesome, surf wave is big and has lots of push. I know they have some of the surf tabs on some Malibu boats similar to yours as well and if you look up their website, its posted on there.

Can any tell me if the resale value of a boat goes up or down with a GSA or Infinity or home-built gates with automation installed?  Some people say that any time a hole is drilled into a hull, the value goes down.  So, I'm curious.

When it comes to installing a modern surf system, I would sure think the resale goes up...it would have too especially if you are getting a great wave out of it. You wont get back all of what you put in obviously, but you are for sure attracting more people to your surf system boat compared to other older models on market without them.

Far as drilling holes taking value down, I would think that is only relevant if the install is sloppy. These wake boats already have a bunch of holes in them from factory. Lots of people with older boats add full ballast system which requires drilling a bunch of new holes (much bigger holes), that is another thing that people want and adds convenience in the wake boat market. More time to surf when you are not spending time filling with the older, slower aerator pumps.

I have GSA and worth every penny.. Price may seem steep.. but cheaper than a new boat... If you are going to spend the money, go fully automated. I demoed the Ski Supreme which has a surf system, but not fully automated.. You had to hold the switch down until you think it is fully deployed then hold the switch again for up then do same for other side... I could not see performing transfers with this style of system...

GSA.. push left and surf the wrong side of boat.. push right and surf the right side of the boat, push off... Has remote so rider can push to perform transfers...

@mrothwell as with any add-ons.. could increase resale but no to the price paid for it.. will not depreciate the value IMO as consumers are looking for this in boats more these days. Would make your boat more desirable than one without a surf system. My opinion and my 2 cents :)

Did you end up putting some tabs on this last summer?

Do these systems help with the pull to one side that suck gates create?  That is the biggest complaint I get from my wife when she's driving is how hard it pulls.  Looking for anything to help justify the expense.  Also, there is a new one on the market, https://evolutiontabs.com/

list extensively and turning either direction becomes easy and no tugging on wheel trying to go straight either

I did. Best thing I did for the boat. Requires next to no weight in the bow after install. Boat handles much better when loaded as well.
