HELP Please.....

I am having a fuel problem issue I believe. last year before I put the boat to bed, I had an issue starting it several times. It would not start on its own. After I took a small shot glass of gas and poured it down the intake, she fired right up. I had to do this several times while on the lake and then once when I went to winterize it. I believe this may Be a fuel pump problem. I have searched the form and have not come up with any thing like it.

can anyone suggest what they feel it must be. if I put a gauge on the high-pressure fuel line, side what should I have?

Thank you in Advance for any help.

Bakes Fuel Pressure Chart

Start with a fuel pressure gauge and see what you have on key up, idle, and WOT if you get far.

when did you last change the fuel filters?

I would change filters if they haven’t been swapped recently, then diagnose from there.

I changed the hard one to get to (above the fuel tank) at the beginning of last season.

What pressure should I have on the test gauge on the high pressure fuel lines. Or where can I find that info?

thanks in advance for all the helpful info all.

Thank you for the info, Question does it differ for different size engines? Not sure exactly what type of engine I have yet. I have not unwrapped it from season storage I plan on doing so this week.

Change the high pressure fuel filter.  Borrow a fuel pressure gauge from an auto parts store,  attach it to the fuel rail, turn key on, wait 15 seconds and note the pressure.  start engine, wait a couple minutes and note the pressure.   Let us know what you find.   You should see something close to this: Key-up 43-45 PSI Idle 35-38 PSI WOT 43-45.

You may not get to a WOT reading if your pump is not putting out enough pressure on key up or idle.
