Shower Antics

Hi all,

Alot of you know me, but I've never brought this up before. Up till last summer the grandkids weren't hard at it, but now it's nice to get the shower on them after there run. So My son and I did some digging. And I'm Hoping my find  may help others!

Here's is / was my delema!

Ever since I bought my TXi,  in Oct 2012. First use Summer 2013. My shower never seemed to work properly. When the engines is running,  the spray would pulsate or spit, when the engine was off the shower would stream but then shortly get cold, makes sence! But... Hummmmm. Weird RIGHT!!!

My diag!

Turns out all lines, and taps are clear, shower pump itself is fine to. Don't  want to get into a long winded synopsis here.

My Find!

The cold water T was installed right after the Fake a Lake before the Transmission oil cooler which is before the Raw Water Pump. It's on the suction side of the pump, not the pressure side. It all males sense now, the Raw Water Pump is trying to Suck water out of the cold water side of the hot water shower when the engine is running, hence the pulsing, and when not running you have a stream!

My Fix!

So I have to put the T on the pressure side of the cold  Raw water pump! Looks like I'll place it in the line on the Port side just before the header water injectors, that way the existing cold water feed hose will still reach to the tap.

My Ask.

If someone with a 2013 L96 that has a shower,  could you have a look just were your Cold Water T is installed, and let me know would be nice.  Thx,

By Fake a Lake you mean an onboard flush valve?  Most consider a Fake a Lake to be an external (under the hull) device that you hook up to a hose and supplies water to the raw water intake so you may run the engine when on land.

That would make sense.  If someone installed the shower intake upstream of the raw water pump then they dun messed up.

On my '15 23 LSV the cold water intake for the shower is a tee fitting on the thru-hull for the raw water intake. I'll have to get a picture on Thursday since I'm away from the boat for business meetings the next few days.

formulaben,  yes, bad choice of words ,  fake a lake is what I call the flush valve. And yes you can see why my shower doesn't work correctly.

mikeo,  thx for the follow up.  I'm thinking if your cold water pickup is before the raw water pump,  you should be experiencing the same issue I'm having while the engine is running.  Should be interesting to hear what you confirm. Thx again.

I finally got the picture I promised, but it's not that great. I could barely get my phone in to position to take the picture, so I'll have to explain a little bit about it. My cold water pickup is a tee from the starboard rear ballast fill through hull fitting. You can see the driveshaft in the first picture, and the second picture is the elbow coming out of the through-hull fitting for the ballast pump that feeds directly to the shower mixer.
