2013 Response Purchase

I'm purchasing a 2013 Response and curious as if these boats have problem areas?  Touchscreen start?  Engine problems?  Steering cables?  Tracking problems?

It will be used on a private lake for slalom.

Thank You for your help.

Biggest possible "gotya!" is the HDS - Hydrophonic Dampening System.  It works until it doesn't and then you take on water.  Lots of water.  But a rock solid boat otherwise.

In a 2013 Response? I don’t think so. I thought they went to the new style dripless packing.

Anyway if you are looking at a TXi, all of the above will be great. We had a 2013 and absolutely loved it. Tracked great, skied great and had zero issues through the entire 650 hours we put on it. 5.7 350 SS is a perfect engine with the acme 515 unless you are high elevation. Then you might want to look at prop options or for the 6.0. I did end up buying 150 lbs of lead to mainly offset just a driver in the boat but if there were three of us I’d run all of it in the bow and tracking got even better.

It does have the touchscreen that has the history of delaminating but ours didn’t show any signs of it through last spring when we traded it in. The screen is probably the biggest risk, but it would t stop you from skiing. Keyed backup and ZO is not tied to the screen.

I thought only the FXi did not have it?  BICBW...

Inspect the removable floor section behind the motor box. The one on my neighbors ‘13 TXI is sagging badly. That’s some weird honeycomb aluminum material.

Otherwise a very fine boat!

Oh that is true, I did have that replaced early on. The replacement was put in at about 250 hours if I remember correctly and was still 100% solid last spring.
