Swim deck bracket on bot side

Recommended Posts

My swim deck brackets are worn out causing the deck to bounce around a lot in the water, causing an annoying thudding noise when floating around. I found some brackets on https://www.bakesonline.com/swim-step-bracket-2-boat-side-older-malibu-boats-ea.html

The only issue is mine are only 4-1/4” long hole to hole but the ones they show are 4-7/8” anyone else every replace these or have a way to fix the slop?

Is the issue that the holes in the boat itself are worn/getting too large for the screws?  I had this issue on an 05 Enzo.  I filled them with epoxy and fiber, super easy, re-drilled, put in screws with sealant (5200 or 8200) and it was perfect again.

It is (in my case) the wallowing out of the pin to mount, not the actual bracket mount to stern.

Ah, different issue.  Bigger pin?  Drill it all out to a bigger size?  Drill out and put a through-bolt on it/not a pin?  You can then tighten down (although harder to take on/off... which seems like rarely happens...)
