engine trouble

Recommended Posts

19 24mxz, 2 hours on engine. 5 minutes into first launch, engine trouble. at about 3000 rpm, throttle decelerates to low speed. .can hear a clunking sound from engine (monsoon 410). sound is present even at idle speeds and runs rough. cruise control off. can anyone trouble shoot the issue? this is a brand spanking new boat......

Only troubleshooting is to drive it back to the dealer.  No reason a new engine should be doing that, and I wouldn't mess with it.

Agree. I’d say something wasn’t put together correctly. How many hours on the clock? Did your dealer spend some time on the lake getting your boat ready? And this is the PCM409 motor, right?

edit: I see you said 2 hrs.

yes it is the PCM 409. I did test drive with the salesman for about an 1.5 hours. no problems. the boat went into storage for about 2 months. gas tank was about 35%. filled it up at arco with 87.  technician was telling me maybe the gas since the engine requires 89. however the PCM manual says minimum octane 87, while malibu manual says 89.  funny thing is there was no alert codes either.  the tech seems to think that it might be the fuel pump? or an injector? but this is a brand new boat that hasn't even gone through the 10 hour break in process. which leads to my other question......pcm manual says break in period is 25 hours and malibu 10-15.....in general should I follow the engine manufacturer suggestions or malibu?

and yes oil and temperature gauges read within normal levels. also, is this common in a brand new boat or anyone with similar experience?

I have problem with my19  24MXZ also , very poor quality of installation  all around the boat , list of items is too long etc.

Very surprising that the price $170k is higher then 25LSV .
