HyperRyd surf racks

Recommended Posts

I've seen a couple post on here about the HyperRyd racks but figured I would post my experience.

First, they were very easy to install and adjust.

There 's lot's of options for where you want to place and angle adjustments.

I should have took install pics but forgot :)

Install was maybe 5 mins each.

I have only used them for one weekend but I would highly recommend them.

It's very easy to put and pull the boards out of the racks.

I've always had my boards on top of the bimini and it is finally nice to get them out of the sun for extra protection.

Yes the racks are expensive but what's not in boating.

If anyone is ever in my area and would like to check them out please let me know.

Happy boating!

$180 shipped with the TMC paid member code:  https://www.bakesonline.com/ronix-bimini-top-board-bag-4pc-surf-board-rack-heather-grey-orange.html

I just got it but haven't had it on the water yet.  2 of the boards stay out of the sun.  Nicely made/designed.  Those other racks are neat, but $500/each is outrageous for what they are.

I bought a pair as well. They are very well made and work great. I honestly don’t feel they are overpriced once you get your hands on them. Also once you break it down you are getting a two surf board rack that can hold any style board, fragile or not and keeps them out of the sun for $1000. Way cheaper then PTM or Rosewell racks which don’t keep your boards out of the sun.

The Ronix bag system looks pretty good too, but part of your board is still exposed and it’s on top of the bimini which some people don’t like.

Everyone is different in their preferences but the HRD racks are super nice.

The Corson Piper racks are a cheaper alternative and possibly hold 4 boards and I saw those in person and they were very nice

I wish I could use either brand and would gladly pay but they won’t work on the Axis tower

my cargo net is a cheap substitute that probably wouldn’t work with the Malibu tower and Bimini

I have felt boards in top of Bimini coming out of peoples surf pockets that had the heat material and the board was still very hot for the part under heat material

I think on top is not a good place

It's funny that people say these are expensive.

People are buying the PTM/Skylon clamp racks which cost more to hold per board than these.

$3500 a pair and even if held 6 boards would be $583 per board.. So tell me what makes these so expensive?

Cost of everything in this industry is high priced but people are spending money so things won't change.

Trust me I never thought I would be paying 100k+ for a boat

Am I complaining about the price.... No, I'm enjoying it

Any chance they would work on an Axis tower? It doesn't look like it to me from the pics, but I haven't seen these in person.

I think the axis bar is a lot bigger diameter. I don’t know if they have an adapter for a larger size yet.

The Axis tower is a little tricky with the width and single cross tube. You can put two racks up with no speakers or side mount under the fork racks.

@Hyperryd...how about a mount for the G4 tower?

I do have billet mounts that will fit in the overhead speaker mounts. They are the same as the MB cast tower (all I have pics of). Unfortunately the G4 doesn’t have side speaker mounts so it’s racks or speakers.

Thanks so much for the pics. I do not have tower speakers, so this could be an option for me. Maybe with the back bimini extension to ensure the boards are covered...

That would be ideal.

Having the back bimini extension also helps once the tow rope is installed since without bimini going over center tower bar, the rope can get tangled up in the boards or caught on side of board if you bring up someone from the side of the boat. I have had 2 racks like this mounted under my tower for 3yrs now and in early Spring and late Fall when the bimini is not really needed/wanted yet....its tougher to use the overhead racks due to tow rope. You gotta watch it every pull to be sure it does not get caught on one of the boards strapped up there.

Awesome option to have overhead racks like this tho and the only place I store my custom boards since factory tower racks will damage them and they are exposed to sun.

I have a set of these too.  They are definitely well made, and the quality is inline with my PTM Racks.  They look right at home on my LSV and keep my custom boards out of the sun and out of the way.

100% of the bottom boards are covered with room to spare.  The top two boards do get exposure.  The bag is huge.

The post you are referencing is from Memorial Day 2019. Either way Memorial Day 2020 has already come and gone so if there was a sale this year it is also expired.

Just picked up a pair of  Hyperryd Designs XR1 overhead surf racks, and these are awesome !

Rock solid, and I love that you almost can't even see them from the side, as they tuck up under the bimini on the G3 tower.

If you have a  G3 tower, and surf, you need these.  Thanks John!
