SeaDek/Gatorstep removal tips

Recommended Posts

Put the platform out in the sun for a while, then start at one side/corner and try to pull the seadek off including (!) the adhesive backing. A pair of additional hands can’t hurt. It will come off but very very slowly. Be patient and try not to rip it in part(s). Getting these off is time consuming and kind of nasty. Try to get it all off in one piece. You can also use some goo gone/WD40/soy oil-based adhesive remover and spray it between the platform and the pad where you have it already pulled up.

I had fantastic success using this stuff:

Heat. Heat. Heat. Patience. Heat. Grab an old hair dryer and give it the business. Apply the heat to an inch or 2, then pull it off before it cools. You have to melt the adhesive to help it let go.
