Checking ATF oil procedure

Recommended Posts

vwztips

Have a 2001 Sportster with ZF transmission. From the car world, I know you check the ZF's with oil up to temp, engine running and on flat ground.

Do you check the boat transmission cold? Warm? While running? etc?

Thanks!

Key tip here is how to use the dipstick...most don't know that you're not supposed to thread it in when doing a "hot" check.
