Burn marks on plug wires??

Recommended Posts

Not sure if 'burn marks' is the correct term, but I have some pitted areas on plug wires 1 and 8.  It is only on the end that attaches the the spark plugs.  Distributor end is fine.

Any ideas what can cause this?  335 Hammerhead.  Seems to run well.  Just noticed the plug wires when I was changing the oil after work today.

Thanks!

It's the spots in the pictures.  The rubber is pitted, so you can feel the uneven surface.  Maybe I'll just try running some new wires and see if it happens again.

I would look at it running in the dark, see if you see any arcing.  Looks a bit like burn marks, could be some weird mold I suppose.
