thermostat

Recommended Posts

my 2016 T22 is overheating.  water is coming out of exhaust.   impeller looks new.

any other ideas? thermostat maybe?  what size Tstat on PCM 409?  anybody know?  is the tstat housing on top of engine right underneath the ski pylon?

also, is there some " pee hole" that could get clogged...i read this on another forum.

any ideas?

I don't think the Axis Challenger engines use a sea strainer, so I would start by look for debris clogged in the transmission or engine oil coolers.  The t-stat housing is on the back of the motor near the ski pylon.  You should be able to get a thermostat and gasket from your dealer or online.  The housing is through bolted together and held to a bracket by zip ties, so be careful not to lose the nuts on the bottom when you take it apart.  If the sea pump impeller blades are bent or worn at all, I would replace it too.

Are you getting an exhaust coolant overheat warning (codes SPN 441/442), or engine coolant overheat warning (SPN 110), or both?

thanks for reply.  I didn't even notice the codes.  just "engine overheat".

there is a sea strainer, as well.  can't imagine much seaweed getting caught.

I think I found the trans cooler.  didn't even think about engine cooler...ill try to find that..
