I agree with all of that except the cleanliness part. Mine was the polar opposite.  And number 9. "Gatorstep on top of the trash can .. meh.  I preferred the milled aluminum". Odd, mine is the brushed aluminum like the glove box. I don't recall that as a box to check or uncheck.

Cleanliness is all in the dealer prep process. They should be cleaning the boat up for you.

I would agree but I was also referring to the bilge area which the dealer does not really clean.  For whatever reason .. this one is cleaner than my previous.

Malibu must have seen the picture I posted of my bilge at delivery. :Tease3:

@pauley71 you have a wicked big glob of grease on the back of the seat pivot plates. Might want to get that off before it gets on something you don’t want it to.

Haha. Noted!  Thanks.

Maybe... my build in my early April build wasn't awful.... but I pulled the cubby under the drivers side bow seat back to install my GPS and nav map card and WOW... insane how Malibu made zero attempt to at least vacuum piles of fiberglass dust and scraps in there.  It is a total mess and that is where the heater draws air from to blow out the tubes.  Cleaning that area out is on my list of todos. Sure, not an area people typically see but so maybe just a little bit of pride and quality in the work they do to build a 6 figure boat.

On the new vinyl... Im still undecided.  I did notice the front part of the cushions is a different material than the back part (with the bead being the dividing line.)  My seats are graphite on both sides but the two sides are very different materials. The inside edge feels more like fabric, the outside is more traditional vinyl.

And my trash can lid is aluminum (and that wasn't some option.)

And coming from a 5.7L I tend to agree that all these new motors are louder.  I have the M6 and while quiet at idle and in general... I still isn't as sweet at the 5.7l in the noise category.   I also think the extra carpet on the floor/base of the older boats helped absorb the sound quite a bit.

After my Easter egg hunt in the bilge, I pulled the floor and front driver side cubby box to find basically what has just been described by @gregtay. Enough said. The vinyl, the wife is still not hooked on compared to our ‘10. I will need a season to form an opinion. On the tour I asked why they were still using carpet and the answer was simply for noise reduction. I don’t know that my M5 is actually louder than my 350 was. I think that because it is so much quieter not hearing the exhaust that I can hear what is actually going on in the bilge. Really kind of unnerving at times, but if things go south in there you will definitely hear it in real time. Someone else commented on the VD being a lot quieter. Exponentially so IMO. The Hurth was like listening to a bag of cats fighting, even at idle. I think the change from ATF to a heavier weight oil may of helped in that respect. I do miss the growl of the 350 though. Just not the same in a Prius. 😊
