89 sunsetter rear bench

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently picked up an 89 sunsetter from a fellow member who did a great job starting a complete overhaul. He had the stringers, foam, and floors done and had to set it aside.

The bench seat is rotted through and I'm wondering if anyone has made an aluminum frame to mount the bench and back to. I saw Ron tanis do this with an American skier and was curious if it had been done in a malibu.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Have you asked Ron?

I reached out but have not heard back from him.

Trying to remake the spotter seat also. The original is so bad it's difficult to copy!!

Hi Bryce,

I have a 89 Sunsetter, let me know if you need a few pics or dimensions.

Hi jim,

Could you send me a pic of the lay out of your boat behind the bench seat? Mine was stripped out for the floor job so just trying to see battery location, fuel tank mou ts to floor, also how the rear center floor piece is supported. I'm guessing it just sat on a lip but whoever re did this floor glassed over they lip so I need to either router out a lip or maybe install some angle iron in the side. Also interested in the blower ducting to the rear vents since there are 4!
