Battery retainer block

Just a thought I know  you did not ask but why not go to a marine battery box?  This one is only ~$12.60 on Amazon (Attwood Standard Battery Box).  Make sure it is sized for your battery.

If you find someone who has removed a Malibu factory sub “box” it is a great donor for making these. You can use a factory block as a template with a router and just zip them out. Don’t never throw a Malibu sub box away. They may be terrible speaker enclosures but they are made of very nice material.

I have a sheet of HDPE and do have battery boxes.  It is not something that is going to keep me off the water.... guess I will just make a few one day.   I’ve used a band saw and router on HDPE before and it makes a  colossal mess!   I still think those were machine made.

Thanks all

They are not molded, if thats what you mean. They are routed out, likely CNC.

I meant “machine shop” made.... certainly not my garage tools.

Use Starboard - way better and easier to machine than HDPE.  Of course you can buy a billet CNC tray and holder for 60 bucks.

You know they are basically the same? Starboard is just a brand name like Kleenex and HDPE is generic "facial tissue".

I can only tell you that Starboard cuts and machines MUCH better and easier than run-of-the-mill HDPE.  I suspect because not all densities are the same.
