Boat lift

Recommended Posts

My husband and I recently built on a lake in Wisconsin and would like to keep our boat on a lift. We have a 2004 sun setter 23xti. Would a 108 wide lift work for our boat?

Personally, I’d go wider then that. It would work, but extra width is never a bad thing. And if you were to upgrade your boat in the future you may not have to upgrade your hoist depending on the capacity. How much more is it to go to 120”?

Are you asking because you have a great deal on something local?  If so then yes it would work.  But if you are buying a new one, wider is better.  Are you getting a canopy that goes with it?  A wider canopy will provide better coverage from the sun and less dripping of water on the gunnels during rain/wind.

Get a 120"!  I was using a 108" and you have to really rely on your passengers to guide you in.  Only ~5 inches on either side.  These boats are not great for maneuvering around a pier (or lift).  Plus, the 120" will allow you to have carpeted guide-ons so if you do make a mistake....no damage.  Also, the comment about the wider canopy is a good one.

Another vote for 120. We had a 108 and upgraded to 120 because of weight issues, but the width has been really nice. I would also advise to get as big a lift as you can. Always better to have extra then not enough.

I do 100% agree with this. If you are searching used and it’s a good deal, condition, etc, I wouldn’t turn it down!
