How do I get to the crankshaft on my 383 hammerhead?

Did you take the spark plugs out and spray a little penetrating oil in each? Try turning the engine with the plugs out so you aren't fighting the compression. What's the history of this engine? Has it run for you in the past?

@adam911:  Would a correct assumption be your starter does not turn the engine over, and I mean at all?  My suggestion to turn it over would be to use a large screwdriver as a pry bar to move the flywheel through the top bellhousing hole, the ring gear teeth offer a good pry mechanism.  Trying to turn it over using relatively small bolts may result in breaking one off. As noted, do take out all the spark plugs first.

Why do you think it is seized, what led up to your diagnosis?

Well, in that case pull the motor out and don't try to rotate it until you open it up.  Which is what I told him in that thread ;)
