Scratches

Recommended Posts

I recently sold my Blue Axis A20 and have a new Malibu mostly black coming this weekend.  On the Blue Axis, every little scratch was white (thin gelcoat?).

Is it going to be the same on the Malibu?  How do you manage these little dings that are naturally going to occur?  Is there touch-up paint/gelcoat you can use?

read up on some of the post here about buffing.  Using the right buffer with the correct RPM's and compound is key to remove scratches.  For example you can't run a buffer at 2,500 RPMs on a heavy duty cutting compound or it will just burn it into the gelcoat.  Needs to be more like 1,000 RPMs to cut.  Either way there are lots of youtube videos on removing scratches out of GelCoat.

If you are looking for the correct Gelcoat repair, you need to make sure you know your colors and order from Spectrum - https://spectrumcolor-com.3dcartstores.com/
