2015 23 LSV’s - which one?

Moved from Spokane, Washington(Lake Coeur d’Alene) to Denver, North Carolina(Lake Norman) last summer and sold my 2014 24 MXZ along the way, so I’ve been boatless for a year and am ready to purchase one again.  Will most likely purchase one of these 2 on Monday.  Without seeing them in person until then, I think I like the red better.  Thoughts on color schemes?

Both are exact same options, aside from the following.  Red is $1,500 less to put options and hours in context.

Blue 2015

  1. 155 hours
  2. Docking lights
  3. Transom lights (underwater blue LED)
  4. Exhaust tips
  5. High alt prop (versus 2419 on red; Lake Norman is 760’)

Red 2015

  1. 280 hours
  2. 3 interior heaters
  3. No docking lights
  4. No transom lights (underwater lights)
  5. No exhaust tips
  6. No high alt prop

Blue less hours, and spend $500 and add heater

U won't be adding all those lights and other options to the red cheaply

Plus blue has white top deck that won't fade like red if u don't wax it every day.

Good luck!

@boardjnky4 - seller is an individual who has a site called ncwakeboats.  He’s got a nice inventory that he picks up majority from trade-ins from dealers across the country.  Knows his boats and their history really well.

I agree with this! Plus I like the blue better.

Thanks for the input!  We’ll do 1 last family vote before I drive over on Monday to pick one and take it for a water test, hopefully returning with one of them.  Prices and all the details are all worked out, just need to decide and like the water test.

If I go with the blue, which I think I am leaning towards(I like the looks of the red better, but the hours and options seem like they should carry more weight and both look great), then what impact will the high-altitude prop(1235) versus the 2419 have at 760’?  Edge on top speed?  I know I can swap it out, but is it something that is a must switch out?  (Btw - not making my decision on the prop, just want to understand it better).  Thanks!

You want the 2419 or 2315 snd your 1235 idea as a spare.  As stated above the 2419 is the torque/high altitude prop

2419 do what you want with whoever and whatever ballast you want ( same as OJ 945) at your  .760 feet , altitude is not the issue, crew and ballast is the issue.

2315 Less aggressive that will have its limits of crew and ballast it can get up for wake but no restrictions for surf

1235, restrictions for both ride and surf for ballast snd people but a super economical and powerful prop if your not testing the limits of ballast and people fir ride and surf

1235 with large crew is limited to wedge and stock and some in front pnp to help plain to ride, surf it can do all the ballast you want but not a big crew on top of that with wedge as it won’t get to surf speed

What engines are in each boat? My buddy ran the 2315 on his 14 LSV with the 5.7l 350SS. Did pretty good but definitely hit the "speed wall". Still surfed great at about 10.5mph though. I know @Stevo ran the 2419 on his 14 lsv with the 350 and ran more (pretty sure..) weight then my friend did.

With that 2419 and the year I bet it’s the 5.7 ss or the 330

330 was not an option for Malibu in 2015. Could very well be the 350 but the 6.0 410 was very common in those boats too as it wasn't a huge cost to upgrade but a good upgrade.

@ahopkinsVTX - both engines are 410’s.

I don't have experience with the 410 and the 2419, it honestly might be overkill on the prop. 2315 might be more of the sweet spot. 410 is a hell of a motor though and will perform very well in the boat. I bet @IXFE remembers what prop he ran on his 23 LSV with the 410.

@granddaddy55 - thank you!  Any advantage of 2315 versus 2419?

Not sure, hoping the rpm lower (thsn I think the 2419 would be)  fir surf snd my non existent crew means the 4-6 gph fir surfing as my 1235, 1st time out we didn’t get in water , first out with 2315 just surf tested (no listing at all - I heavy list usually) by barging it with 4200-4400 lbs of ballast plus wedge and 2 people and full fuel from 11.2-12.5 and wake tested at 22 mph  ( sea level at 4000-4200lbs ballast and lead plus wedge  snd 2 people full fuel slmost , massive wake ).  Then we heavy listed actually  surfed last weekend with 34-3600 lbs of ballast and lead plus wedge and small driver and 3/4 or more fuel full .  Plus a 45-60 minutes idling in driveway

I know my gas gauge well and I’m not even near half tank so with higher R’s 250-350 more surfing and more than that I think for riding for riding 4-500?, I seem to be sipping gas .  If I spent all day long getting up all that ballast wedge and big crew on plane fir riding than the 2419 would probably be better snd more possibly more economical at higher rpm

but as  @shawndoggy  sais you probably just start trying the limits of whatever you have and not get the economy part of it

havent filled up yet but plan to after a surf tomorrow if I can talk wife into it, 3rd weekend in same tank and see what I really burn

330 5.7 1.49-1 2315

You’re stretching my memory, but I think I had the 2315.

Sane 1.49-1 drive line though right , so with more motor the 2315, 13 would be the sweet spot

The real deciding factor will be what will they be pushing riding , not surfing once they go above the 1235, the original torque prop

full crew, full ballast snd pnp and wedge and any lead , 2419 or oj945

Whatever the drive line snd motor if your 35 or well less instead of 37-40 at  the higher rpms for running distance except fir small crew AND you don’t ride heavy thsn your over propped

I feel slightly over propped with the 2315, I’m used to the 1235 snd 40-42 st high 4000’s- low 5000s , 24-27 cruising was 3000 and below 33-3600was 28-30+ with just 1050 lbs of people and leads

and if your surf crew is small and you don’t ride heavy you could do easily do the 2313 and then even consider the 1235, but you can never throw s crowd at that prop
