23lsv 2019 non - wakeview bench seat option question

I am going to chime in on this thread with an update. We didn’t order the wake view seat or the flip down rear seat backs... mainly because I wasn’t looking to add a bunch of metal moving parts to the interior of the boat and the seat offered in the 23 this year seemed quite inferior to the new one in the 25 and other boats. So we skipped it. Well if you are at that crossroads I’d recommend just checking the box... I wish I had. Turns out the non-wake view seat design is also very inferior 😏... the seat is not supported on the ends of the cushion since the whole back of the floor is the same design as the WV seat with the drains rearward so they left a huge gap in the support base  Well if you step on the end of the center cushion(which is a very natural place to step coming in from the deck) it drops/sags quite badly(because it isn’t supported at all!!!! The plastic seat base board + cushion just flex as you would expect if you designed something that way. Not sure how this is going to hold up over time. So even if you don’t want the wake view seat... just order it so that you have a ridged rear center seat base. Again.. just a terrible design. I have had my boat for 10 days , have ~10 hours and you can already see a permanent bend/curve to the ends of the seat base. I’d do anything to go back and check that box and pay even 2x the cost of the option to have it now.

PS.... I tip the scales at 160 pounds and it flexes that much... can’t imagine what happens if a much larger person steps down.

Damn! That sucks!

Looks like my 2018 23LSV without the WV seat is the same. Must say I had never noticed so not that big of deal for us. But now it might bother me! You can see that it is a little warped on the port side in the bottom picture. The 23 LSV is asymmetric so it doesn’t flex much at all on the starboard side.

Is it equal from port to starboard side? His pic is starboard and yours was Port.

Good catch. Port side gap is about 1” wider. Issue still happens on the storyboard side. Examples with me just sitting.

What is interesting is that the way they designed the seat the cushion/board is connected by raises hinges, so the only places the seat base touches the fiberglass base is the back edge. Everything else is suspended and all the weight on the front 1/2 of the seat is supported by the two hinges. So the focal point for the side bending is the hinge, not the edge of the fiberglass. So I think installing some rubber stoppers/feet on the seat base around the edge might help a little bit to support the seat.

My 25 LSV 2019 has a 5.75 inch gap.  So it is less than the 23, but not by a huge margin.  And mine is pretty well symmetrical.  It might be 1/4 inch different, but not worth mentioning.

We got the bench and after only having the boat out a few times I'm glad we got the option.

We got the bench in our 2019 25 lsv and we love it. This week, I was on a friends 2019 23 lsv and my neck got sore turning around to watch the surfer. We eventually pulled out the wake view seating and it soothed my neck pain.

Yea, but on 18s there is a piece of gatorstep in the middle of that seat which clearly defines where people are supposed to step. Ironically, everyone complained about the gatorstep path...

and... "friends don't let friends order boats without the wake view seat".  :-/

You were right earlier; your boat is a very nice build. So you are obviously not allergic to spending $ on the boat.  Any word on what it will cost to retrofit to the bench?  Seems like that's where you heart is.

Guess that's why I never noticed the flex issue, we use the stomp pads on out 18.

Come on those pads in the middle of the seat are horrible, everyone hated them that is why they only lasted a year.  A better solution is the flip down seats which are awesome BTW!

It’s ironic how people cried for years about no walkway or similar on the LSV series, then Malibu introduced the step pads, which some didn’t mind and others hated. Guessing the ones who hated it were more vocal and now they are gone, and what do ya know, people don’t like this solution either. :dontknow:
