Agreed.  3 weeks into my first black hull I think it is underrated how much more work it is to clean.  Compared to our gunmetal and vapor metallics, the black shows everything.  Even with a good cleaner and microfiber cloths, you have to put some elbow grease into the tougher water spots and also make sure it is completely dry to keep from streaking.

You must be boating in a high alkaline area. Other than the scratches being more noticeable, I have not experienced that. Boating on a river that has high sediment and now unfortunately a lot more barge traffic plays havoc on the lighter colored keels are far as showing the scum lines. White does make it easier to find the spots you misssed wiping it down, where the black hides the missed spots better is all. Either way, same amount of work to keep her shiny.

Black Hulls Matter. I have had black hills on both of my wake boats. Cleaning is no worse than any other boats. You wipe them down after every outing right? Black hulls are Awesome!

Totally agree with this. My last boat and my new boat are black hulls. Love black and it looks great. No harder to take care of. It also doesn't show the water scum line as bad if you have to deal with that on some lakes.

Yup.  Seems funny that white is so much easier to keep clean, but the black shows every little water spot

I have a black hull. Would not order anything other. I use boat candy cleaner wax when we pull it out. just spray down and wipe always looks awesome. Now you will get lines scratches form the bunks on the bottom of hull. This is just the way it is if you have to trailer. If you are powering off especially in a sandy lake the bunks will collect dirt and over time show scratches in hull.. Can't see them when the boat is in the water. Get some boat candy cleaner wax and you will get complements overtime your out.

I have an all black hull, IMO nothing looks better than the black when its kept nice. The carpet bunks do scratch tho and there is really nothing you can do about it, I drive trailer deeper to float the boat on/off and it still happens.

For anyone who may wanna look into it.....I have not installed yet, but I bought GatorBak bunk covers like 2 months ago to replace the bunk carpet this year since I was starting to get worn carpet. Its a heavy duty synthetic that has channels in it to wash away any debris and to keep hull from getting scratched. Should also last way longer. For my 24ft boat, the new GatorBak bunks cost around $550 for the full size 2x6 (GB550), I have 2) 12ft long, 2) 8ft long & 2) 4ft long. I am also replacing my 2x6 bunks when I install the new covers. Here is a link to what I bought.

@Infinitysurf    Be interested to hear how this is for u.  Please give update when completed and how it is with unloading and loading your boat.    My Malibu Txi has black bottom.   I’m getting ready to spend $400/$500 to get new bunks/carpet on my trailer.

White is the easiest to wipe down and keep clear of water spots. Black can scuff and spot, but won’t stain or yellow like white will.  I always bounce back and forth.  Both are incredible.  I’ll tell you what I think I won’t do again, and that’s a white tower.  Bugs, pollen, mildew, ugh!

I had heard a lot of great things about the GatorBak, they got several innovation awards. Then a friend put it on his boat, he really likes it and says there is almost no difference when it comes to loading/unloading. The couple benefits that sold me were that it lasts a long time, the bunk wood does not rot over time since its able to drain and dry out.....and wet carpet bunks can cause blistering. Even tho its never happened to my boat, I thot those were all good benefits. Hope to have time to install mine in next couple weeks, just have a lot going on and not sure when I will be able to do the replacement.

I learn stuff every time I get on this site. Like, who knew that some of you are forced to play on water that forces you to have to tolerate something called a "Scum Line". So sorry to hear that.

Anyone that has had experience with a Black Hull please chime in!  I'm working on my 2019 LSV 23 build.

How easy is it to keep looking good?  I trailer my boat a lot and don't want the front of my boat looking all scuffed up.  I have always had a white hull but love the look of a black one.

Thanks!

So what did you decide to do?

I went with the white hull.  Here is a pic of the design.  I should be picking it up soon.  Thanks,IMG_3310.thumb.JPG.492327041c7e4af5290c7f1e1e57b2e9.JPG
