Windshield detaching from frame?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just saw that one of the windshields in coming off its frame and it looks like the previous owner had tried to use some sort of caulking to hold it in place... see photo...

I’m thinking of trying to remove the old caulking and then using perhaps Dow Corning 795?

Suggestions?

I have some screws that hold the frame on.  Mine have backed out for a similar look.  Mine was a gasket not caulk and it fit back together and screwed tight.  May be a mising screw up in the corner

I found 3 screws that hold a vertical metal piece next to the windshield, no side gasket that I could see (unless there was originally though I don't see it on the driver's side). In any event, that was nice because I was able to completely remove the side piece, clean and sand down to bare aluminum for a really good prep.

This morning we have dry weather in Seattle :) I applied the Dow 975...fingers are crossed that it holds well :)

Btw, I used a spray called Marine Formula to help remove the previous caulking and it worked really well.
