Oil Pressure guage not working

Recommended Posts

Andy005

I recently purchased 2005 Malibu Response LXi, and the oil pressure guage is broken.  The needle does not move with ignition ON or OFF, but is stuck at max 80.  After skiing in choppy water today, the needle now points to no man's land.  The other guages (Temp, Fuel & Voltage) in the cluster guage work fine.  I have the older 4 inch guages, and Bakes only advertises the 5 inch ones.  I have read in your forums of replacing the stepper motors in the guage, is that my only option?

Did you get anywhere with the gauge? I have the same problem with the volt gauge. Havent got around to trouble shooting yet. I know my MMDC is not the one in the guide, still hoping it will help narrow down the problem.

Pretty sure Bakes or Greatlakesskipper had some 4-1 gauges.  But going analog is the only way around an eventual problem.

If the oil gauge is pegged my guess would be a wire is shorted to ground..... it was the blue wire on the harness on my 99 if I remember correctly.
