Intake Manifold Gasket job - Easy

I was super impressed to see how clean things looked when performing an intake manifold gasket job.  Pretty easy job really, probably a total of 3 hours double checking everything and proper torqueing, etc...  However, I did notice a little pitting around the water ports.  Is that to be expected on a 10 year old boat?  The pitting was on the inside part of the port not near where the gasket is seated so I'm assuming no concerns/worries.

just to give folks an idea or hunch of why I wanted to change my intake manifold gaskets on a 10 year old boat (my cracked riser is the cause of my milky oil on the other thread).  The top gasket shows you the water port on the port side intake manifold and if you look at the bottom left of that top gasket you will see rusting colorization.  Which really shouldn't be there on the high part of the felpro gasket.  Maybe inside of that but not the high part of the gasket itself.  It would have only been a matter of time before this thing caused future issues

That's exactly the same look mine had except my "dark" area was on the outside - hence the whistling noise I was experiencing.

That intake area looks clean!  Good work and glad you got it fixed.

@hawaiianstyln:  Yes to your question, running raw water v. coolant is the reason why you will see corrosion and perhaps oxidation in the water passages.  Coolant has lubrication and anti corrosion properties that our lakes / rivers don't provide.  The valley gaskets and sealing is a weak link so take care with the gaskets and joints in that area, appears you are being careful and attentive to that area.  Looks nice and clean.

Thank you!  I figured if I have a cracked port ETX/CAT riser, while I'm at it, I'm replacing both risers (I know it's pricey for those risers, but...) and might as well just do the intake gasket.
