08 340 Monsoon - Validate I have no neutral?

I have a black cap at the bottom of my throttle.  Maybe I drank too much last summer when I first bought the boat, but I thought that button pushed in so I can rev in neutral.  Well that button does not push in.  Am I missing something?  How do I get my motor in neutral if I need to elevate the RPMs while on the trailer.  I know not to rev high or even medium, but I can't believe I am unable to rev a few 100 out of gear.  I have to be missing something here.

There is no neutral fast idle mechanism built into the chome ZF electric shift throttle controller.  If for some reason you need to rev the motor up out of gear, the FWD or REV harness plug has to be unplugged from the transmission to prevent it from shifting when the moving the throttle handle.

It is not that simple on our 2008's. I have not done it but I think you have to disconnect the cable at the transmission.

okay you are confirming it then.  I can't believe they make it this hard to rev neutral.  All Malibus before and after 08's with that ZF electric shifter have a pullout.  what the heck.

Depends on the year.  Some of the skicommand throttles have a neutral button and some don't.  My 2012 doesnt have one, but the throttle i bought as a spare did.

if my shifter fails one day (ZF electric flybywire?) can I fabricate/fit different shifter?  especially one with neutral pull out on the shifter itself?

At one time I asked Smoothwaterman about the newer Livorsi shifter he had determined that they connectors were the same as the Ski Command throttle and sent me some pictures.  The Livorsi has a smaller base plate so it wouldn't cover up the mess created by the Ski Command throttle.

That being said. the neutral pullout isn't really needed on a fuel injected engine for normal usage, so having to disconnect the shift solenoid connector from the trans isn't really a big deal for the few times you would need to do it.  The connectors are easily accessible from under the center rear seat.

Guess I don't know where this is at since I'm still learning this engine and the FlybyWire system.  I did see some type of 2-3" Red cylinder sticking off the transmission

I think I took a picture of it for someone, maybe I can find it.  But with the rear middle seat and tray out they are to the left of the v drive

okay that is about where I was when I noticed the Red Cylinder type. Let me go take a pic and see if you can identify.  Working from home 100% has its benefits :)

Those 2 connectors to the right of the red thing are the shift solenoid connectors.  If you remove them, don't mess up and put them back in wrong position unless you want your throttle action reversed ;)

so removing both connections makes it rev neutral if I'm understanding

If you remove the one that controls forward then when you move throttle forward it will rev in neutral.  If you remove the reverse one then it'll allow you to rev in reverse in neutral.  If you remove both then you can rev in either throttle direction.
