Mobil Delvac Syn Transmission 50

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to change out fluids in trans and V drive of my 2018 LSV with 410. I need to purchase this fluid (Mobil Delvac Syn Transmission 50) and have not seen it locally yet. Just wondering what you all are using and where you buy it from? The other Dexron III/Mercon ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid is already here on the shelf waiting to be used.

There are two parts. The trans takes the trans fluid. The v drive takes the Delvac.

If you can’t find the Delvac, your dealer can get the Indmar branded one.

I get it from Bakes (indmar branded).  It is tough to find locally or online, unless you want like 50 gallons.

Also, I am not sure about others, but I can never get 1.25 quarts sucked out.  It is usually more like .75 quarts no matter how much I try.

I haven't had to service mine yet, but does it have to be synthetic? There is a huge price difference between the one listed in this thread at Summit racing in a black jug and the synthetic version in a grey jug.

This is a pack of 4 but still double the cost per gallon for synthetic.

That summit black jug says full synthetic right on it.  I wonder if the black and silver are actually different products or just old vs new packaging?

I know the manual says to change it at like 20 or 50 hours, but if it’s full, clean and doesn’t smell burnt is it really worth it?

Yes, especially the first time due to the crap you get in the oil from the break in of the gears.  As with atf, once it is burnt you have already done the damage.

why not at 20 and then stretch it as you choose from there, seasonal or an hour target.

no way I’m doing that on regular same interval as engine oil

im thinking seasonal,  even high ours like mine would do

I’ll find out about 200+ hours in tranny and vdrive when I inspect it in January , seems to come out clean  in 100 hr seasons except for the first time I changed it from the dealership’s last time makes me think they never changed the vdrive or used wrong fluid cause it was slightly different color than tranny

Our transmission/v-drive supplier has changed the oil for the v-drive from Mobil Delvac 50 to Mobil SHC 630. The Delvac and SHC 630 are compatible and can be mixed. The SHC 630 should be easier to find than the Delvec

I ordered from Summit Racing. Ask my dealer about getting it from them and they only have bulk 50 gals. Said he has never had anyone ask to buy it from them. Nobody does their own changes anymore. Huh???

They wouldn't sell it to you if you brought a jug to put it in?

I searched 5 different shops near me and nobody carried it.  I finally bought if from summit racing.  Came quick and was almost half the price of what I could get it on amazon for.  I figure I now have enough for the next 4 seasons.  I called my service department and they said it’s the same stuff as the indmar stuff, just rebranded.

I didn't pursue it that far. It would cost me a 40 mile drive and probably double what I paid Summit for it plus shipping. It showed at my house in 2 days. It was under $50 to my door and will cover at least 3 years for me.

I've been able to purchase products like this from a local oil distributor, more of a warehouse than retail store.
