SkiDoo sled motors have been doing this for years. Neat setup. Fully fogs the motor and shuts down......ready for its summer nap.

And outboards are self draining.  No water is left in the motor to freeze.

Actually no.  I have a 25HP Tohatsu (Japanese version of Mercury) that has one spot that the water does not drain from and when it freezes it tends to bend/distort an aluminum tube which restricts the water flow the next Spring.  Ask me how I know   Running some antifreeze through cleans out the water just fine.  It does not freeze in most of Japan.
