Question about "ignition kit"?

Recommended Posts

Hi all - when I bought my 2014 23 LSV last year there was no key - just the touchscreen with a code to start everything.  There is an ignition key hole under the throttle but no keys.  I think it would be a good idea to have a backup to use the key if/when my touchscreen fails, but what is needed?  Is there a kit I can buy, and if so how much does it run and how hard is it to install?  I have a good indy boat mechanic that I'm sure would do it for me if it doesn't need to be done by the dealer (none around me).

I wonder if I can just get a replacement key from Malibu based on my VIN or if the entire ignition switch will need to be replaced.  My touchscreen has some marginal delamination already, but I made the dealer buy me a brand new screen that I haven't had to install yet.  I guess I should have insisted on them getting me a key but they told me there isn't one, just the touchscreen.

Any help/info appreciated - thanks!

Todd

Cant get the key only, it comes with the switch.

It's the typical marine universal key switch. You can pick up another one almost anywhere.

Could also most likely get an OEM one from bakesonline if you wanted it.
