Throttle cover

So the leather covering that feels so nice in the palm of your hand when motoring down the lake with hand on the throttle, how does one replace that?  How you ask could anyone be stupid enough to tear that?  Well, I have a son.  The phrase "bull in a china shop" doesn't do him justice.  Too smart for his own good, too strong for his own good, and inattentive to details at inopportune times.  This is the son in whose hands I placed the pressure washer wand with express instruction to "spray down the carpet toward the back and stay away from everything else!"

So apparently the throttle cover is too weak to hold up to pressure washer tip at 1 inch and full power, now I know.

I was thinking of starting with my local upholstery dude since I have to bring him a torn ski locker door (ruined in garage door accident by same kid).  Any ideas?

I've seen people recover in vinyl and I replaced the entire knob with one off eBay. I have recently seen someone selling custom knobs on the Malibu Axis owners page on FB as well. I would think any auto or Marine upholstery shop would be able to repair it fairly easily.

BTW, I break stuff and blame it on my kid all the time too.... pretty sure that's like 75% of parenting ;)

2 boys?  Wuss.  The offspring have to out number you before you can really understand how bad a parent you are.  I have 4 boys and a girl.  Or as my daddy used to say, 4 hits and a miss. . .

And yes, just the knob.  Not the arm rest.

Use the old one as a template and sew a new cover for it.  Your kids will enjoy learning about the process, and you can make "Bull" push the awl through the new leather.
