I did something stupid and now I have this tear in my vinyl, does anyone have experience with getting something like this fixed?  What am I in for?

What did you do?

I had a two of the engine side panels sitting on the floor of the boat, when I towed it the short distance home one of them flew out and on the way hit the seat.  When I figured out what happened I went back and picked it up off the road.

I'm absolutely sick about this.

You can have it vinyl patched which most likely you'll still see it but will prevent it from expanding further.

Or you replace that piece of upholstery which is a total fix much more costly.

That's a beautiful boat and I want it pristine for when you sell it in a few years, so please replace that section. Thanks.

I would not worry to much about it. I had a similar tear I noticed on my boat when I was looking to buy it. It was on a similar texture vinyl as well, The seller had it repaired and it was barely noticeable and its been 7 years and still looks good.
