Drawing of Malibu Boat

Recommended Posts

Javi

I'm looking to design some art (similar to a wrap but just not as big) for my 2006 V-ride (same shape as wake setter).

ANYONE know if there are drawings available for Malibu boats? Ideally in Vector format  SVG, PDF or Ai. I asked Malibu Boats but they seems to not have anything. Not sure if its because its an old boat or just something they may prefer not to share. I can obviously do it after a lot of effort of drawing and measuring of the boat, but I have a feeling someone must have this already...

Try these folks:  they did the rendering for Malibu for years.  https://gilbertcreative.ca/new-page/  Also, there used to be an outfit called "Yacht Art" (out of Kelowna, BC IIRC) that did computer renderings.

BTW, Malibu (and all the rest ) have been using CAD for years.  Solidworks as well as some specialised  hull stuff (Carlson?)  Of course they won't give you those files.  Too easy to "splash" a hull (think Svara)

All I asked them was to create a flat 2D side and back view in Ai, svg or PDF vector format so that I can draw some to-scale printable graphics but not even that. Vector format however is important cause as you can imagine illustrator can't deal with a full scale drawing.

I don't know what's the big deal. I think it would be hard for anyone to do something with such a file.

If someone really wanted to steal a design, they need 3D and there is more than enough laser scanning systems these days that you can just rent,  place in and around it and get your 3D model in minutes.

Thanks, I'll ask gilbertcreative and see if I have any luck.
