Throttle knob and adjustments

I lost the wooden knob that goes on the shifting throttle.Also throttle works it's way back gradualy.It wont stay at one speed.Its a 1998 Malibu with 350 motor.Any suggestions how to correct? Nearest dealer is a 4 hr drive...

That's a Morse/Teleflex/Seastar MV2 throttle setup, which will spring back to idle if you don't keep your hand on it unless you're at 1/3 throttle or more (roughly).  If you're running at ski speeds and can't take your hand off the throttle, your throttle return spring is a bit too strong.  You can order a cable brake from skidim for a few bucks.  It's a clamp that goes on the throttle cable to give it a little more stiffness.
