V-Drive hose

When winterizing my boat I disconnect the inlet hose to the v-drive so that I can hook up my water supply and then anti freeze, I don’t seem to have much luck getting this hose off with out a fight!  Anyone have tips on what works for them?

Which end are you trying to pull? The end that goes to the bottom of the hull was next to impossible for me to pull but the end attached to the vdrive itself was a lot easier.  I bought a 4' section of hose and connect it to the vdive after disconnecting the actual hose. Then pour 5 gallons of rv antifreeze into a bucket and bend the 4' hose into that bucket to suck the antifreeze out. Usually have to rev the engine with neutral switch pulled out to start getting the initial pull since the bucket is sitting on the cabin floor but after that it does it by itself.

You can also pull the output side hose off the vdrive and run things in to the engine that way. Don't need to pass water or AF through the V drive itself. At least our Walter is this way. If you really want AF in the v drive, get a funnel with a flexible hose attached and run some into the now exposed output side.
