Paddle Wheel + Boat Lift = FML

So the marina was trying to up sell me on this new lift they have that would work better than wet docking our 2011 Axis A22. The lift was "setup for inboards" as there a new Moomba that they configured it for. So I said what the heck I guess we can check it out. It worked great until I went to wakeboard the next day and realize the bunk configuration was right on my paddle wheel. Needless to say my perfect wrist has drastically gone done and it was a dumpster fire trying to use my phones speedometer. That said has anyone accidentally crushed their paddle wheel and can I get away with repair kit or do I need the full new setup?

Get GPS and screw the paddlewheel.  But seriously though, Im sure you can just get away with the service kit.  I had this issue a few years ago and the kit did the trick.  I havent had the problem since, but if it happens again, Im going with GPS.

I didnt drive my truck to the lake last night so wasnt able to pull the boat to check it out. That said I will be there as soon as I escape work to get a better idea of what was going on. The crystal clear waters of Iowa didnt provide for great visibility either when diving under boat.

Paddle wheel kit did the trick for me recently as well.  The pin was bent, which kept the wheel from spinning freely.  My guess is that it bent the pin on yours as well.  <5 min fix

I ended up on mine once. It did not brake anything just bent the plastic fins on the outside of the wheel. I ended up using vice grips to kind of make things look OK and recalibrated  and all has been good.

Dont check it from below, access it from above.  WAY easier.

Ok- so I pulled the boat last night to see exactly what happended. Well i pancaked the two protective plastic pieces (why they arent metal idk). Additionally, I broke off all the little paddle pieces of the paddle wheel. My paddle had more tear drop looking paddle wheel vs. the saw blade paddle wheel. I hope they are interchangeable...

Has anyone had any experience with Nautic Laugic? If my cheap $35 repair kit doesnt work I definitely think I am going to switch over.  Is it just plug n play?

Also, do you have to re-calibrate the speedo after installing a new paddle wheel?

This might be a dumb question but id rather ask now than goof it up and be stuck on lake. Does it spin in the direction of A or B? Sorry if its a dumb question, but rather be a fool here compared to a fool while on the water!

Get the Nautic Logic.   It is SO much more reliable and holds speed steadier.  I did have the recalibrate the speed once and never readjusted since.  You just splice it in, so you can still use the paddlewheel lake temp sensor.

There’s a setup screen on your LCD display AKA “In-Dash Graphical Display” that can be used to calibrate the speedo reading.

Here is a link to the user manual.

(see section 2-7 for calibration)
