25 LSV Surf Gates stuck

Recommended Posts

I love my Malibu 2017 25 LSV but am getting frustrated. While out on Chelan With my family and friends The surf gate got stuck. I ran calibration and then service feature and then both gates are now stuck in the open position. Nothing seems to be working. I hard reset the boat a dozen times. At least I was able to get it back to shore. But wasted a day of vacation and not able to use the boat today, or tomorrow. May even have a hard time getting back on trailer

I have read that this has happened to a lot of us owners. Any suggestions?

You may read this

If anything, you can manually bleed off pressure to close the gates and still cruise and wakeboard, and to not fight it getting on the trailer.

I've got a 2017 20 VTX and have been having an issue with the surf gates for a couple of weeks now.  Mechanically, the surf gates work fine.  However, the system thinks they are extended when they are actually not.  If I go over 12 MPH, I get a warning that the surf gates are out (which they are not).  In addition, I can't go into surf mode as the system won't extend either the left or right out.  Had it in the dealer last week.  They said they recalibrated, did a software update, and everything was good.  Took it out on Lake Washington today and experienced the same issue. I can get the gates to retract by recalibrating on the water but that doesn't fix the problem.  So now, I have a boat that I can neither wake surf on or go over 12 MPH without hearing the warning that the surf gates are out.

Very frustrating.  I'll talk to the dealer on Tuesday but thought I'd see if anyone had any advice.
