Recommend me a new surf board

Currently riding the Inland Surfer Tako. My wave isn't big or clean enough and most likely need a faster board. Something that works well with smaller dirtier wave. I go about 200lbs . Can anyone suggest something that works well in my situation?

I know I sound like a broken record, but once again I'm going to recommend the Phase 5 Model X. It's a fast board that will really improve your riding skill. It definitely helped me. My daughter rides it and it has helped her improve so much that she has claimed it as her board. Little does she know that tomorrow she's getting a Phase 5 Diamond for her birthday.

I'm in the same boat at the OP . My boat is limited to a small/medium size wave. I'd like to get a skim style board to make tricks easier. Would there be anything wrong with a Connelly Habit or a Bad Habit? You can get them pretty cheap right now. I'm not made of money and another board over $500 isn't in the budget.

Doing my research, it would seem that a more square or thicker tail would be beneficial for a smaller wake. Not sure the Connelly would qualify. At least that is what i am finding out today.

@semi Demo.. Demo.. Demo... There are mulitiple boards and companies out there and each one has it's own characteristics. Demo on your boat. Pay the extra cost for buying it from the board shop that let you demo.. It will pay off in the long run,,

@jaciche same holds true for you.. Now take into consideration that a board over 500 is out of budget, however you might spend (ask me why I know why) way more than that by buying cheap pop out boards.. If you are looking at skim, I (me not everyone) like the Victoria Factor and the Tuk Tuk.. Victoria Factor is a reasonable cost board that performs well above others (imo). The Tuk Tuk is just plain awesomesauce.. but it is pricey... To be honest I have ridden 4 skim boards and own 2 of them.. the first one was a good trainer (pop out hyperlite board) but that was all it was good for.  Doomswell makes a great skim board as well and is in my top 3 of the 4 ridden. The Tuk Tuk has been my favorite but I don't own one. I have the Victoria and it is my second.

I would say to both of y'all,, save your money on buying something without riding it, pay a little extra at your local shop that allows demos...

I just bought one of the Habits.  For $220, why not?  We don't have a board dealer anywhere near the lake and already have 4 other boards for various skill levels and weights but nothing that's really good for 360s - and that's what we want to do next

Will let you know Saturday if it works out.  I've got a medium wave on a loaded LSV with wedge and surf gate like gadgets.

If you're looking just to cruise around you can't go wrong with a Doomswell El Jefe. It's super floaty and fast. The Tako isn't a bad board, so going from that to something similar will be sort of a wash most likely.

oh the luxury.  Demoing isn't an option at all for many of us.  I'd have to drive 150 miles to demo.

I'm a broken record victora fan.  Have been riding the original factor since 2012, and just recently got a factor pcx about a month ago.  Still adjusting to the slightly wider shape (which imho makes it not necessarily slower rail to rail, but demands slightly better body mechanics for harder turns).

everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) who rode my original factor hated it ('cept me, I loved it).  It had a very flat rocker profile which meant it pearled really easily.  The pcx on the other hand, has ever so slightly more rocker, and is significantly less prone to pearling,.  But it's still really fast.  Which means everybody LOVES the factor PCX.  We've gotten several inexperienced newbs surfing on it successfully -- something that never would've happened on the OG factor.

@wakemitch said I'd love the stiffness of the carbon layup of the PCX, and I thought I'd never be able to tell the difference.  Boy was I wrong.  It's way stiffer than my old board (which I didn't know wasn't stiff till I rode the PCX).

Anyhow, blah blah blah.  The real point of my post is that the factor pcx is also the fastest board in our quiver... faster than either soulcraft, faster than our phase 5 prop (which has basically reached retirement status now that we have the pcx), and certainly and without a doubt faster than the CWB tsunami (which has earned the nickname "the schoolbus" on our boat for the slow and deliberate way it rides).

Well I got the $220 CWB Habit and I can say it's definitely worth the $220.  Very maneuverable and fun but not really fast.  For spins, which is why we got it, I got further around than ever before and hope to do a full spin and stay on the wave next weekend.  I just gotta get it going a little faster.

It is now my daughters favorite board over the Hyperlight Shim (good 2015 model).  At least that's what she said with a big smile on her face while getting back into the boat.
