2019 Ram 1500

Anyone jumping into a new Ram 1500?  I really dislike the look of the last couple versions of the 1500s but this one has me drooling a bit!  Would love to get a first hand review.

Is anyone towing heavy with the 5.7 Hemi and the 3.92 tranny?  How does it do?  I have an 18 23LSV, so about 8k lbs.  I know a 3/4 ton would be best, but I just don't tow far very often.

I've towed over 8K with the previous gen ram (2009) - same engine with the 5/6 speed trans and 3.21 diff gears. (MN to Montana type towing so mostly flat with a few big hills no real mountains)  My current setup is a 2018 with the hemi, 8 speed and 3.92 diffs.  It makes the previous 09 truck feel weak by comparison - due both to the gearing and transmission I'd assume. But I haven't towed much over 6K yet with the new one.  Motor is the same basic Hemi they have been using since 2009, unless you get the 2019 with the eTorque Hemi which boosts low end torque electrically.

Very good looking truck , from rear not seeing emblems I thought it was a true full size Honda , so definetly a change from previous gen

I have the 2017 with 3.92 gears.  It’s been a better tow rig than my previous Chevy 6.2 and F-150 with 5.0.

this setup really seems to have plenty of grunt.

I believe the fast lane truck had the setup timed fastest in the Ike gauntlet run.

The exterior looks seems to be personal preference (which I do like), but the interior of the higher trim models really is nothing short of amazing.  I have read several reviews that have said it is one of the best interiors sold today - including all the luxury marques.

I have a 2012 RAM 3500, and when this update makes it into the HD's, I may be tempted to upgrade.

My 2018 has the 3.92 gears as well.  It took a little learning not to spin the tires every time I took off from a light.  A lot more grunt off the line than my 2009 with the 3.21 gears had.

I noticed with the new 8 spd trans (and not only in Ram) the first gear is deep, like 4.70:1. Older 6spd trans, like you had in your Ram are around 3.2:1. This allows the 8spd trucks to have a much deeper overall gearing. The overall gearing in newer 8 spds are around 18:1 (with 3.92 rear) and your old truck is like 10:1 (with the 3.21 rear). So there is a pretty big difference in those two drive trains.
