Sunsetter stringer tabbing layup schedule

Hello all, and sorry if this question has already been answered, but couldn't find it anywhere. I am replacing all stringers in a 1988 sunsetter. The stringers will be replaced with wood entirely wetted out with epoxy before tabbing in and encapsulated in biaxial clothe after tabbing in.  I plan on tabbing in the stringers with epoxy and biaxial tape. If any one has used epoxy resin to tab in stringers, what weight of clothe did you use and how many layers? my original plan was to use 2 layers of 1700 (17 oz) tape. Has anyone used less or more? The original stringers where covered in what looks like 24 oz woven rovin, so I was thinking two layers of 1700 with epoxy for tabbing would be more than enough, but wanted some input. Here is a gentleman's number,( CALL 603-435-7199 ) i spoke to before i attempted to do my repair. He is a Epoxy distributor and has the best prices you will find any ware. He will  sell you everything you need to do the job and give you all the info needed, He is excellent in his knowledge. He can answer any and all your questions. I was going to do some things that were way overkill and found out that it would actually be detrimental to the job.

Thanks for the reply 96Response, I actually ordered my epoxy from him. when I talked to him he said that two layers of his 9 oz clothe tape would probably be fine to hold the stringers in, but he didn't act like it would add a ton of strength to the stringer when encapsulated. He said that you could use heavier clothe if you got it, but may not need to. So I figure if 9 oz will do and 17 oz is beefy, I think 12 oz would be just right. although two layers of anything with epoxy has got to be better than what I peeled off the rotten stringers. I'm very far from an expert but 2 layers of 9oz seems quite modest to me.

I know, it doesn't sound right to me either. With a sbc and velvet drive torqueing  on the main stringers, seems like more would be needed. I'm going to do at least two layers of 12 oz. thanks for your response and opinion.

Me too.

I would use the 2 layers of 9oz for bedding the stringers onto and then tab the sides in all the way around with 6" wide 1708 and them come back with 12" 1708 on top of that.

 

With the appropriate grinding and then cleaning between steps of course.
