sun fade and small scratches

response LX

Recommended Posts

I just went over my boat in preperation for storage, this is what I found....above the rub rail the gel coat seems to be slightly sun faded also you can see where the previous owners I.D. numbers were. Below the rub rail i have a few small scratches on the drivers side(from docking, tying up?) & on the hull where the boat rides up on the carpeted trailer runners it's all scratched(I figured it out after the fact that my kids were playing on my trailer with bare feet & got sand allover the carpet...grrrrrr) So....what products would work best for these problems & should I buy a orbital polisher/ buffer? I researched previous threads & couldnt find much.

Thanks

Doug

General rule of thumb is go from less abrasive to more abrasive as needed. Various manufacturers have lines of products that do that. Last option would be wet-sanding, but it doesn't sound like you are anywhere near needing that.

This is a neat little 3M feature I just found: 3M product chooser.
