Yeah the interior of the tubes is as important. When I do mine, I'll be applying this:

Have heard very positive things about this product for vehicle restoration. Buddy of mine used it on a 76 mustang and it worked very well. Eastwood even has products for exhausts. I bet something good is out there for inside manifolds.

Sounds like a good idea as long as you have a dry place to do it and someplace for the boat while you're painting the trailer.
