Just to confirm before I buy, I need a starter that fits a 1999 Chevy Suburban 5.7 to replace my 98 vlx with a 5.7 right? Any recommendation on which one to get?

Thanks.

^^^^^ Absolutely, that is one component you want marine grade. I've had really good success with Mallory Marine starters.

Any place around you that can rebuild?  Way cheaper than new if you have the time.

What would be way cheaper? A marine 5.7 starter is about 60

Had this discussion yesterday. Rebuilts are now close to the same price and don't seem to last as long in the marine world. At least around here.

My apologies. Last time I bought one it was very expensive. Sorry all.

No need to apologize

the marine version is a big deal, they are built to shield against sparking so that the risk of explosion is much lower when you start the boat if gasoline fumes happen to be present.

I don’t know where one could be found for less than $199 but someone may link it for you

I bought one of those DB's for my 95. Awesome starter. As I recall they make a hi torque version or something, that's the one I got.
