Advancing ignition timing past 10 deg?

Recommended Posts

Old hot rodder trick is to advance your base timing past factory setting to get a little more power. Has anybody done this? If so how far? Notice any difference.

im going to check my timing this weekend.

I have the EFI monsoon 325.

And you didn't mention a year, but if your 325 doesn't have cats it is open loop.  You might be able to cheat the advance a little, but the ecm will pull it back when it hears ping anyway.  Higher octane fuel can delay ping, so maybe that's the best thing you could do for a tiny power improvement.

Do you *need* more power?

Ha who doesn’t want more power.

2002 monsoon 325. I checked it and it was at 10 degrees so left it alone.
