2005 stereo power options

We have an 05 response lxi that we only use for slalom skiing, and that is usually early morning. Last year i replaced the factory speakers, and now it sounds good enough for the way we use it, but the stereo is powered off the ignition, and it drives me nuts to be constantly shutting it off everytime we start the boat. 

How hard is it going to be to move the power to ine of the open accessory switches? That was how it wss set up on our 03 and it made so much more sense. I tried following the wiring once already, but loiks like i may need to remove the panel the head unit sits in.

Hoping its not a huge nightmare. I will have the boat home next week to install gatorstep on the swim deck, so was hoping to do some other imporvements at the same time.

Use a volt meter to find and confirm the ACC terminal on the key switch turns on the head unit. Take it off and relocate it to the output terminal of an unused ACC switch.
