Good boating and skiing in the winter.

I can't take it, fall is here. I have pulled the bou, docks, and lift out for the year. I expect to trailer the boat out for a few more good days before winterizing it. But, I am already thinking we gotta get some winter use out of this boat to break up the cabin fever.

So, you people in more tollerable climates than Minnesota in the winter... How far south do we need to go to get decent air and water temps in say January, February, and March? We don't mind 60 degree water, we are used to that. It is already down to 65 here and that was no problem last weekend. Heck we even go in low 40 degree stuff in late April or early May when the ice is out but by then we are pretty crazy about geting the season going.

My guess is you'll have to head pretty far south. North Mississippi/Central Arkansas to find water that warm during the winter. Even then, you'll have to play it by ear as they can get some pretty cold days as far south as Central Florida. I've been outside in December in northern Alabama where the high for the day was in the teens. Two days later it was 55.

Here in NC we've got another 6 weeks left. You can get by with a drysuit in November and there's a randon day or 2 in Dec thru Mar where you may get out if you're dedicated. By April it's wetsuit time. But with your criteria it sounds like you need to move to Miami.

Last year we rode all winter here in NC Shocking.gif and we're planning to do the same again this year.

V.A. on Kerr lake and we ski all year in Jan. and Feb. I usually need a dry suit if it's a cold winter. Last year we were in the water all year with just a full suit. Never had snow last year, and the lake never got ice in the coves. I don't think we will be so lucky this year.
