Weird Noise... thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Saw this post elsewhere and I am experiencing the same thing in my 2017 T23.

”Weird noise... 2018 Axis A22.  At approx 90 hours the boat started making an almost grinding noise when coming from gear to neutral.  It sounds like the prop creaking to a halt.  Sounds mechanical.  Thoughts?”

Get another driver and take her out. Pull the rear cushions and rear engine panels and attempt to isolate the problem. From what you describe my first guess would be the cutlass bearings, but that would of started being noisy on day one. You can grab the prop and attempt to rotate it by hand and it will make a god awful creaking noise as well. Especially if the bearings are dry.
