2018 sub upgrade?

Has anyone upgraded their sub on an 18a24 or t22? Curious if adding a sealed box is an easy process since it now looks to be fiberglass in that location?

There can certainly be noticeable gains from going from a 10" woofer to a 12". Even without an increase in amp wattage, you gain bass depth and output.

There can also be noticeable gains from increasing the wattage on an existing woofer. Worth looking into what current amp output is for the woofer, compared to its power handling.

It can also beneficial to revisit the amp tuning, prior to making equipment changes. Only an investment of time, to make sure the setup is performing to its potential. This should also include how and to what, the woofer is mounted.

The OEM woofer is not designed for a small enclosure, but rather a large cavity. Its best suited when it uses the boat's helm cavity as its enclosure.

I want to say I’ve only seen 1 example of swapping out the OEM (or a stereo delete) where someone put in a sealed enclosure.

in that situation I believe they had to cut out the fiberglass the size of the sealed box, and then covered the larger hole with a square metal Malibu logo.

another question with that is does cutting the fiberglass void the warranty?

Doubt it, that’s not a structural piece of the mold

I would probably inquire about that now though. I also doubt t is structural but with the new two piece mold designs the top deck, floor, etc is all one piece.

It already has a 12 inch circle cut out,  a 15-16 inch square would be minimal difference

i put a ported box with the wetsounds xxx 12" sub in my observer compartment of my 2018 t22. it fits well and hits hard but crisp (it will actually blow the cup holders out)
