Surf Gate issue dialing wake

New 21vlx owner I have read and watched a lot of youtube videos and read some threads. Yet between 10.5 and 11.3 the wake behind the boat ends up with either soft and will squash or to much white lip at the top. boat set to full ballast with 2 -3 people inside gate at the middle setting on the wheel. Cannot find a pocket or any real push behind the boat. was running a 49inch surf skim board at 6.1 : 185lb. but the younger kids under 120 could surf farther back and hold pocket for a little longer. Running at a depth of 35 feet but still a lake of a longer or clean wake, only pocket was about 2feet behind the boat isnt that a bit to close? open to all recommendations.

Inside gate? Meaning the wedge?

If so that sounds like too much wedge. Try it at ramp or one click up from ramp. I’d have the speed around 10.8

Do you have the plug n play bags? If no, you need them.

Thanks! sorry wrote it a tad quick so there was some errors. But yes the wedge was set 3. I had called and spoke to a dealer and stated though there should be a pocket 5 feet back full stock ballast.

going to add PNP baggs seems to be a must for a real surf wake on any cross over.
