91 Euro f3 electrical issues

Recommended Posts

I am looking for the wiring diagram for the 1991 Malibu euro f3 skier. All of my gauges stopped working properly and the temp gauge is frozen at "high" temp. I disconnected the battery hoping to reset the gauges but that didn't work. Any suggestions or comments welcomed.

I had a 1990 Euro f3 for many years (from 120 hours to 1,100 hours).  Try Mercury Parts Express (if you have a Mercruiser Engine).

Does the boat have a computron?

@Muddy:  Your boat is of the simple wiring era, no ECU or electrical brain that needs a reset.  As for a wiring diagram, you can probably use any roughly pre '95 diagram or even something from a competing brand to get an idea of how it is wired, the engine brand should also have a useable diagram.  As noted, it is most likely a bad ground given you symptoms & you might check the ignition switch, the canon plug and the main switch panel ground.

Thanks for the heads up on the ground wire possibility. Will check that out 1st. What is "computron" ? Is that the black box under the dash with the computer board? If so yes. Any suggestions or comments welcomed. Cheers.

on the euro f3 topic. I am having trouble with the neutral switch. Is there a relay from throttle to neutral switch? We are getting continuity but boat doesn't always start.

Check the continuity when someone moves the throttle in the lockout detent.  If the continuity changes, then I would look at the adjustment on the shifter for the cable...maybe it's just slightly out of adjustment?

Or the cable end nuts are worn out and are ready for replacement.
